UA Running Assessment

We were designed to run, but sometimes we don’t do it well.

A bit of tightness here, weakness there and our increasingly sedentary lifestyle can all upset the balance of running and our ability to do it efficiently and importantly injury free- (stats can indicate that 70% of runners get injured each year).

Well here at Urban Athlete we are runners too, so not only do we treat loads of running injuries, but we understand the joys and frustrations of running (and not being able to run). So our running program is designed to get you back pounding the pavement.

So, whether you are just starting out and looking to run your first 5km, find yourself enrolled in a 1/2 marathon or are a seasoned marathon runner, we can advise you on the best ways to improve your running to achieve an efficient and injury-free running motion.

Mobility, strength, control and rhythm are key components to running well. We focus on using your body parts the way they were designed to work in order to improve performance and decrease running injuries.

By setting you up with a structured program, you'll have specific areas to work on when you are running which will allow you to work towards being stronger and more stable in your running. Being this type of runner will allow to you become a more fulfilled runner, a less injured runner, and thus a happier runner.

Why Runners Choose This Assessment

Most runners spend years focusing on training plans, shoes, strength work and mileage, yet never have the opportunity to truly understand how they run.

One of the most common comments we hear after a Running Assessment is:

"I never realised that was how I was running."

Using detailed video analysis, practical coaching and personalised feedback, Paul helps runners better understand their movement patterns, running technique and training habits.

Many runners tell us the assessment provides something they haven't experienced elsewhere: a clearer understanding of how they run and a practical plan for what to work on next.

Whether you're preparing for your first 5km, training for a marathon, returning from injury or simply looking to run with greater confidence, the goal is the same — helping you understand your running so you can get more out of it.

Runner Insight

Many runners tell us this is the first time they've truly understood how they run.

Through video analysis, personalised coaching and practical feedback, the assessment helps turn running technique from guesswork into something you can actually see, understand and improve.

A little bit about Paul

What sets Paul apart is his ability to simplify complex movement patterns into practical coaching cues that runners can immediately understand and apply. Rather than simply identifying what's happening, he focuses on helping runners understand why they move the way they do and what they can do about it. This educational approach is one of the reasons runners consistently value the assessment experience.
