UA Workplace

Working 9 to 5 like Dolly Parton?

Well probably not as simple as that these days, we are much more tied to the working day through mobile phones, working from home and the good old workstation set up in the office.

As workplaces become more agile there are a lot of benefits of this, also a few draw backs.

You may have already completed your company’s checklist, have a fancy desk and chair but if you’re not using it properly, you’re more than likely to still experience discomfort.

It’s vitally important to look at the overall picture (not just your sitting position), we need to relate your discomfort to how you are working, what you do both at and away from the office and not just tick things off a checklist.

We spend so much time behind the computer and devices these days we think it’s pretty important to get your set up right and have set up our ergonomic plan specifically for this.

Let’s get you working efficiently and as comfortable as possible.

Workstation assessments

These are performed by our physio/ergonomics guru who developed his assessment knack in big old London town.

Our functional workstation assessment looks at everything in detail- not only your current set up, but how you are using. We need to understand not only what causes your pain, but how best to keep it at bay and get you better.

We’ll then adjust as much as we can while we’re onsite, provide advice on how to use your current set up efficiently and where needed suggest recommendations for any new equipment that could further help your situation.

You’ll then get sent a nice little summary of all the changes we have made for your reference and even better you’ll get emailed a personalized regime self-management and advice on how to use your correct work-station set-up efficiently.

If you’d like a take-away of our recommendations then print-out our Checklist and take it home with you!

Work place wellness

Looking after staff, 100% one of our top priorities.

We have a bespoke workplace wellness lecture series which we have rolled out over the last 8 years which is interactive, fun and most importantly- informative.

Educational workplace lectures

We have range of educational workplace talks that we can come and perform onsite and has been provided to friends and referrers of Urban Athlete. These have been run with great success at Russell McVeagh, Chapman Tripp, Minter Ellison, Meredith Connell, Bell Gully, KPMG, Push Digital, Core Logic, Trustees Executors CBRE and more!

The seminars can easily be held onsite at your convenience. All seminars are conducted by a highly qualified and experienced physiotherapist with specific expertise in injury prevention and rehabilitation.

Each seminar is approximately 30-45 minutes in length and we try to keep them short and to the point, interesting and interactive.

We even run a quiz during the lecture where one lucky attendee will win a sports massage.

All attendees are emailed a review of the lecture and any tips and stretches covered during the talk so they can have something to take away with them for future reference. We have the option of performing these as a one off lecture in your area of interest, or run them throughout the year as a regular education program for your staff.

Our most popular lectures:

  1. Workplace discomfort- Common causes and our top tips.

  2. Neck and Shoulder pain with top tips and stretches- includes ergonomic desk advice.

  3. Low back pain - Common causes and what to do about it.

  4. Injury prevention for runners.

We are always continuing to develop and add to our lecture topics so if there is anything you would like us to cover or develop we’re more than happy to.
